This cutting-edge clinic is unlocking the secret to healthy skin

03/02/2026

Rose Bonasera has dedicated her life to helping her clients look good.

The Creative Director of Elixir Skin Fitness has been a dermal therapist since leaving high school, and has built a business based on clients walking out with their skin glowing.

But Elixir is far more than a beauty clinic.

It's an educational centre dedicated to providing clients with “a more integrative approach to their skin, healthy ageing and inflammatory skin conditions.”

“There's a strong connection between our inner health and our skin health,” Rose explains.

“Your skin is a reflection of your inner health and your lifestyle, and it's affected by your exercise, diet, sleep, medication and gut health.

Even the people you hang out with and your stress levels affect your skin.”

And in the rapidly evolving beauty industry, other practitioners are finally catching up to this holistic approach.

“Instead of relying on quick fixes like injectables, Botox or filler, people are beginning to understand that the skin is a metabolic organ that needs to be supported with a healthy lifestyle if you want to age well.”

To stay ahead of the competition, Rose is currently studying functional medicine and expanding her longevity treatments, and will soon install a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

The result is an utterly unique wellness space.

“Without tooting my own horn, there's no other clinic in Adelaide that does what I do,” she says.

“A lot of other clinics will sell treatments and do packages, but their business model is very different – everything I do is personalised to the individual.”

Unsurprisingly, education is at the core of Elixir's mission.

Rose treats both men and women and works with everyone from teenagers to clients in their seventies.

And because everybody's skin is different, there's no one-size-fits-all approach to skin health.

“I'll create a treatment plan for each client based on their skin and how it's progressing,” she explains.

“So when they walk into the clinic, they're greeted with a refreshment and then they don't need to think about what they want to do for the next hour because it's all taken care of.”

Whether her clients have serious skin conditions like acne, rosacea and dermatitis, or are simply looking to reduce inflammation and ensure they age gracefully, Rose's job is to help them understand how the systems in their bodies interact and affect their skin (and overall) health.

And just as inner health has a profound effect on your appearance, so your skin health can affect your overall wellbeing.

“I like to build long-term relationships with my clients,” says Rose.

“And when they see the change in their skin health, that impacts their self-esteem and the way they feel about themselves, which then dominoes into their whole work/ life/ relationship balance.”

The holistic nature of this approach fits with the strong sense of community at Elixir's new home in the Norwood Green complex on Magill Road.

“The previous location on The Parade served its purpose,” Rose says, “but the business was evolving and I wanted to create a brand new fitout that reflected what my business is about.

I really like Norwood Green because it's very central and sustainably focussed, and it's really nice to be in alignment with the other businesses around us.”
