On your bike (and among the madness)

07/01/2019

Goodbye festive season and hello ‘biggest cycling race in the southern hemisphere’, aka the Santos Tour Down Under. That’s right, its TDU time - which means throughout the 11-day event, everyone is a bicycle enthusiast again!

As Adelaide welcomes the warmer days and the notorious bike race, now’s the time to dust off the ol’ bike, don the lyrca and hit the open road in the name of some serious cardio. And once that’s done? Pedal on over to Bicycle Express.

This bike mecca on The Parade knows a thing or two about bikes.

Whether it’s trail bikes, mountain bikes, BMX, kid’s bikes or endure bikes, Bicycle Express stock all the big bike brands like Trek, Cannondale, Cervélo, Wilier, Pinarello, Gt, Look, Kona, Bmc, Norco, Merida, Lapierre, Santa Cruz and more.

As Adelaide’s premium bike shop, they also have a bike-load of accessories, clothes, helmets, saddles and various other bike fixtures. It’s worth a visit for expert advice, mechanical repairs and top notch servicing too.

Not in the market for a bike? Then hiring a bike is also an option.

Another way to get amongst the TDU fever is revelling in the Norwood on Tour Street Party on Monday 14 January from 5.00pm. The Parade (between Edward Street and George Street) will be transformed into a street party, bringing local wine makers, restaurants and bars (cue: Grill'd Norwood, Lost Barrel Bar & Grill, Yak and Pirate Life, Popsicool, Norwood Hotel, Crepe Bar, and more) onto the street to complement a brilliant musical line up from the likes of Georgia Carey, Sonic Circle Band, Gumbo Ya Ya and Mr Buzzy Band.

Plus Wednesday 16 January will see The Parade hosting the start of Novatech Stage 2 of the Santos Tour Down Under, before the peloton makes its way to the Barossa.

Ding, ding. Sounds like bike season is sorted on The Parade.
