Get ready for summer: Lucky’s Beach Club is now open

21/11/2022

Everyone has a different way of marking the start of summer. Moving the clocks forward to daylight savings time is the big milestone for some, while others say it’s the first swim of the season. But at Stepney’s The Maid Hotel, summer starts when Lucky’s Beach Club opens. And on Saturday 19 November, Adelaide’s favourite outdoor pop-up launched its seventh season with an all-new food and beverage offering.

The expanded “Hamptons-inspired food menu” has been specially designed by Krish Dutt, a former chef to Jordan’s royal family. General Manager Trent Fahey singles out the “soon to be famous” Lobster Roll as the dish to try, and the zesty flavour bomb is accompanied by a menu that’s heavy on local seafood including fresh oysters and fish tacos.

This year the venue is split into multiple zones, including a beanbag lounge, picnic tables, sun decks in the sand and a large island bar. But the most exclusive seats in the house are the six private booths. Book in advance and you can soak up some rays (and envious looks) while enjoying a fully catered experience with bottle service and a carefully curated selection of food.

If you’re after a more relaxed vibe, the Sunday Sunset family sessions will offer a kid-friendly atmosphere with plenty of large format games to choose from. “We’ve always had families come through on Sunday afternoons because it’s a really nice time to catch up with friends and the kids have enough space to play,” says Fahey. “Now we’re making that official.”

After two years of operating under covid restrictions, this year will also mark the return of DJs and dancing to Lucky's. Regular parties like Jungle Boogie Fridays will be joined by a busy schedule of special events including Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties, and Fahey is thrilled that the team can once again offer the full outdoor bar experience.

“Things have had to change quite a bit over the last couple of years, so we’re really excited to get back to what the original Lucky’s was all about,” he says. “That means patrons can dance and have fun without any restrictions, and we can focus on providing great customer service."
